This To That // Beaded Crop Top Tee

This year, I’ve taken an unintentional break from crafting. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve still worked on a project here and there, but the ideas have been piling up without much execution. I got hit with the craft bug within the last month and decided to go digging through my “unfinished” pile of half-worked-on clothes. In my pile was this shirt I started like two years ago, but the frustrating thing was that it was 90% done. If I spent a few more hours on it, it could have been finished. So I spent those few hours and busted through.

Birthday Gift Wrapping

It was my friend Gabby’s birthday early in November. I don’t know what exactly sparked me to partake in getting into the mode of making her birthday present pretty.

Well, I kinda do know. I took a trip to a stationery store in Montclair, New Jersey called Parcel and it got me hyped. Their embellishment packs, stamps, vintage paper, and all the variety of goods really made me feel like I needed to step up my gift wrapping game. This was my first attempt at it and it makes me all ready to go wild and crazy for wrapping Christmas presents.

Fuzzy Dresser Drawers

Before the company I work for enforced a textile recycle program, I used to grab fabric from the trash bags other designers threw out. Literally, so. much. fabric.
I came across a small bag of fuzzy material that was being trashed and I couldn’t just leave it behind. I took it and ran.

As for the dresser, I had this wooden dresser since as long as I could remember. Knobs were falling off, the drawers got all scratched up – it was a bit of a mess and I wanted to fix it real bad. I thought to glue on the fuzzy material and buy new knobs and BAM – a fresh and fun dresser.

Monochrome Bead Picture Frames

One day browsing through the internet, I was looking at some ornate frames and was trying to think of ways to imitate it. I wasn’t about to buy a block of wood and carve shapes and textures into it. So I thought “I have a ton of beads that I can glue onto cheap flat frames”. Maybe paint them all monochrome after that. I kinda just winged it after gluing beads down.

Washi Tape Hanging Skewers

The summer seems to be flying by as August is coming up in a few days. The time is also coming for me to move into a new place with my roommate and a friend. Living the rental life, we have to think of creative ways of using up wall space while not making any holes.

‘Journal Stuff’ Pouch

Since starting my bullet journal, I’ve been all about buying stickers, markers, and washi tape. It got to the point where I didn’t know how to organize and I needed a pouch to hold them in. It’s easier to have one dedicated to my journal, so I set aside some time to get organized. I made a planner specifically for my “journal stuff”.

Bullet Journal 2018

Back in high school, I was obsessed with my agenda books. I decorated the covers, doodled all in the insides, and made note of everything I needed to keep track of. I was organized. College brought the opposite. I got lazy. Had no planner. Honestly I don’t remember how I kept track of things. Last year was the first year since high school that I bought a planner. But I couldn’t get into the swing of things and I rarely used it. Organization means a lot to me, but sometimes I really do find it hard to get into the swing of things.

70’s Bag Pizzazz

Over the summer of last year, my parents cleaned out my grandparent’s basement for slight renovation purposes. Their basement was full of all the knickknacks, sewing supplies, fabric, books, and tons of other flea market finds. I shared some pictures from the one day I went to help. Instead, I wasn’t too much of a help; I kinda took a lot of stuff because their fate was the trash. My dad did not hesitate to throw everything out, so I had to claim some stuff as mine to save them.

Hanging Rag Tassels

After being absent for a month, I’m feeling confident coming back with some new projects, words, and pop culture sharing.

I’ve been quite into the “rag” projects lately. There’s nothing like using fabric you don’t have a use for. This rag rug is a good project to make a dent, especially when you make multiple. I made another one for a friend and I may potentially make an area rug size for another friend. It feels good making space in your fabric scrap drawers.

Business Card Pouch

After work lately, I’ve been using my time attending networking events and taking the freelance thing more seriously. I’m still kinda questioning my career path and the kind of life I want to work towards. Freelance seems like a possible future I may want and I’m lucky to have a steady income while having the allowance to work on stuff on the side. This is the time to do it, when you’re not under pressure to make an income.

Since I’m taking my freelance more seriously, I designed and ordered new business cards. I got square cards from MOO, which always come great. Since I don’t think I want to quite carry around the MOO box the cards come in, I wanted to make a pouch for my business cards.
