My Summer Jam

I have a love/hate relationship with summer. I love being able to wear lighter clothing – t-shirts, my athletic shorts I find oh so comfortable, and my fun light-weight oxfords. I appreciate lack of snow, and sunny comfortable days to walk around and enjoy myself.

Classic Souvlaki

Slowdive Gif

One thing about this time difference that bothers me is that I was anxiously waiting yesterday for Pitchfork to post their latest episode of Pitchfork Classic which was about Slowdive’s Souvlaki album. Being seven hours ahead, I unfortunately was asleep when it was posted, so just know this post was intended for yesterday.

The Wrath of Mercury

Mercury In Retrograde

I have landed in Athens. Been here for a little less than a week. Still adjusting to the time change, have obtained wifi, figured out adapters and convertors that work with my electronics, and I’m slowly making my rounds to visit family.

Everything is fine and dandy now, but I can’t even tell you the hell I went through to get here. All I kept hearing from everyone was “Mercury must be in retrograde“. After I have arrived, I Googled it, and yes yes, Mercury is indeed in retrograde. I don’t know much about astrology, but whenever a situation occurs in which the alignments of the stars and planets affect my everyday day life, I do my research. I read that Mercury affects travel (along with other things), and my travel was affected for sure.

My Guide To Resizing Shirts

Learning to sew really made life easier when it came to shopping. I love thrift shopping, and coming across a shirt that didn’t fit me right was always disappointing. Years of practicing and experimenting eventually helped me look past sizes and buy whatever I liked if I was down to put in the work to fix ’em up.

I thought I’d write up a post sharing my method of resizing shirts. This post was written to downsize, so if you came across a shirt you want to make smaller, carry on!

My Return Of Saturn

No Doubt Return Of Saturn Poster

Saturday apparently marked the fifteenth anniversary of No Doubt’s Return of Saturn. *Ahem* excuse me, fifteen years??

Return of Saturn was the album that turned me into a diehard No Doubt fan. I was already familiar and in favor of Tragic Kingdom, their breakthrough and most memorable album, but ROS really brought me there. I think it was a mixture of their newfound rock sound and Gwen Stefani’s pink hair’d attitude. I loved their image during that time; they reached a whole level of natural-cool. Their rock-ska sound was just perfect. It was exactly what I was into at that time as I started developing a love for rock music.
I became known as the “No Doubt superfan” in school. Everyone knew I loved the band, and I was not afraid to talk about it.

Five Ways Broad City is Changing the Media for Us Broads

Guest post written by Victoria

Broad City Art

I hated Broad City the first time I watched it. It seemed like nothing more than televising a web series made by Upright Citizens Brigade alums Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer. It also seemed like Comedy Central’s answer to HBO’s Girls and I’ll bet a whole lot of ladies felt the same way. But with their time slot right after the frequently over-the-top Workaholics, another CC original and personal favorite of mine, I ended up giving the broads a shot for an entire season and realized my original assessment was not only completely unfounded but wrong; Broad City is actually the greatest show ever, pretty much, and here’s five reasons why they’re going to change media for women.

Homemade Banana Ice Cream

Homemade Banana Ice Cream

So I’ve been coming across a whole lot of one-ingredient and two-ingredient recipes that seem pretty awesome. One that really stood out was turning straight up bananas into ice cream. I know, it sounds cray cray!
I was curious as to how it would work, so I tried it myself.
