Tarot To-Go // January 23 – January 29

Guest post written by Victoria

This fresh week heralds the RETURN OF APHRODITE. On Saturday, millions of people participated in the Women’s March on Washington and in other cities, showing solidarity for the myriad of repressed social groups across the nation. This card comes to us in the beginning of the week to reveal that our protests did not fall on deaf ears, even if the resulting changes don’t transpire immediately. The famed Greek goddess of beauty and love returns to usher in a new era of art and beauty as women and other minorities recieve the microphones they need to broadcast their muted voices. Aphrodite reminds us that we are all beautiful, sensual, and free — we are not property but people and cannot be owned nor silenced.

As the week wears on, we’ll find ourselves facing our MIRRORS. As a species, humanity tends to cover up its ugly parts and wounds, only allowing a carefully curated version of ourselves to be seen by the public. This card comes to us to shake us awake to the truth of who we are — the darker the mirror, the clearer you can see things the way they truly are. There’s no need to hide those scars for they are BEAUTIFUL and make you who you are.

Our weekly reminder to take TIME OUT for resting and solitude comes about Wednesday. Remember in The Shining how “all work and no play” turned out for the Torrance family? Don’t take an axe to your hotel room door — give yourself some time to chill out and bring the engines back to neutral before you explode! Human bodies are very breakable and recooperation is necessary to enjoy this life to the fullest.

For the weekend, it’s time to pull up our anchors and set ourselves ADRIFT into the vast uncertainty that is life. Don’t make rigid plans — this energy is good for going with the flow and letting life’s events come and go as they please. Like in the Lazy River at the water park, lift up your fins and let the current take you where you need to be.
