San Francisco in May

Ever find yourself in a work funk where you’re so drained at the end of the day, you can’t consider doing anything after? The past three months have been mentally draining from my full time job. I haven’t been on the blog in forever and took a break from social media. I pretty much came home and just had to wind down everyday on the couch.

I had a trip planned to visit my brother in San Francisco that really came at the perfect time. It was a good chance for me to take a break from the hustlin’ city and job pressures and responsibilities.

My first trip to San Francisco, there were a limited amount of days I had, so I had to make the best of the trip by overloading myself. My brother and I walked so much, but this time around we didn’t want to do as much.

We discussed beforehand some places we wanted to check out. More events this time around and less hikes and city walking.

Off The Grid was a cool place to check out a variety of food trucks. We also took a trip to Treasure Fest at Treasure Island. So many vintage vendors, crafty vendors, and food trucks as well. I ended up getting a bit sun burnt.

Obviously we ate plenty of food, but we ended up ordering in and cooking more during this trip. When we did eat out, we ate at Hwaro for Korean food and Hinodeya Ramen, as well as quite a bit of food trucks.

For activities, I talked everyone into signing up for a beginner’s KPOP dance class at City Dance. I learned something about myself: I need to practice a LOT to memorize dances. Dancing really is not my forte, but it was really fun.

I also got a tattoo at Everlasting Tattoo with my brother. I never thought that I’d want to take care of a tattoo during a trip, but it was a tiny hand tattoo that wasn’t impossible to care for. I make exceptions.

My brother wanted at least one hike, so we walked a trail at Lands End. It was pleasant to be around nature for at least one day.

To finish up the trip, my friend wanted me to paint a fun scenic image on this window she found. My brother didn’t have paint, so we took a trip to the local Dick Blick store. We bought basic acrylic paint and I painted a fun SF scene with Painted Ladies and one big palm tree.

This trip was a nice change from the usual trips I take. Since I’ve already explored the city in November, I was able to make this trip a simple one which I needed. We still did plenty, but we didn’t go wild and crazy this time around. My calves hurt a lot less.

Between you and me, I’m already planning another trip – hopefully sooner than later!
