Women’s March NYC

Today was the big day for women to march on Washington. It turned into a global event featuring women not only marching in America but EVERYWHERE fighting for all human rights. It was amazing reading about the expected turnouts vs the actual estimated turnouts which happened to be more than double than what they expected. It was so damn exciting.

The signs were amazing, and I immediately regretted not making a sign to march with. I don’t know what I was thinking. But I attended with my roommate, and we walked, cheered, and shouted along with the protest chants.

I took so many pictures documenting this historic event, but here are my highlights.

There were quite a number of people in their apartments holding signs and cheering with the rest of us on the streets. There was this one couple who blasted their well planned playlist from their apartment. They played songs from the Village People, Aretha Franklin, Beyonce, and Spice Girls.

I’ve never seen the streets of New York so packed before. There was a set path of where the march began and was supposed to end. When we finally made it down to the first turn, we saw how many people were ahead of us and it was wild to see the streets covered in those pink crocheted cat hats. It blew our minds.

I may not have had a sign, but I wore this NASTY shirt I made last night to wear to this event. This will probably become a staple in my wardrobe.

Let’s hope this day has made an impact to open some people’s eyes that things need changing, and our rights need to be equal. Only time will tell! ♥
