This To That // Menu Holder

Organization is important. It’s so easy to get messy, making it hard to find what you’re looking for in your own home sometimes. I’ve been buying the occasional plastic container to store things, but truth is I haven’t been paying much attention to keeping the kitchen organized.

I was in the kitchen the other day and noticed the lack of free magnets on the fridge which made me realize we just had too many restaurant menus on the fridge. If they weren’t there, we’d have so many free magnets.

So, with that thought, I figured if i just constructed something quick with cardboard, I can use command strips to hang it on the wall. Luckily there was a cereal box in our recycling bin which made things so much easier.

Half of the box was already constructed so all I had to do was cut the box to my desired length, and tape up the bottom. I used cute washi tape to tape up the bottom completely.

I’m not here to rep Golden Grahams, so I thought an easy paint job on the front of the box would be much cuter. I grabbed a handful of acrylic paints and had fun finger painting and smearing. Took some other paints and just squeezed messy, squiggly lines and let it dry.

Of course it needed text, so I found some scrap paper, wrote out “menus” and colored it in. I wasn’t looking for perfect. I love wonky.
I cut out the letters, glued them on and let it dry.

Command strips are handy when you’re renting. We live off of them, really. They’re everywhere in the apartment. So I stuck two onto the back, placed it right next to the calendar so it could be a part of the kitchen decor. It fits right in, and keeps us organized.

Literally took me like 30 minutes to put this box together. It goes to show that being organized isn’t that hard!
