Tarot To-Go // 2017 Month By Month

Guest post written by Victoria

In honor of 2017 and all of its freshness, I thought now would be the ideal time to roll out a spread covering the entire year. Let’s jump right in, shall we?

January 2017

January is all about NEW BEGINNINGS. The past is in the past — leave it there! This card is calling you to step into the future by closing the door on 2016, leaving with it everything you don’t want as part of your clean slate. You have the power to manifest your own world and now’s your chance to craft the life you want! Time to step out of the dream world and bring it into reality — you have the power to do so and the energy is on your side.

February 2017

February will activate our SACRAL CHAKRAS, which will fuel our emotions, creativity, and all of our passions — including sex. If you’re in a relationship, you can expect more frisky times with your partner but also deeper emotional understanding and connectivity. For those of us still riding the single train, it’s time to turn that extra boost of love on yourself! Practicing self-care will set you up for a smooth 2017 but ignore your own needs and the rest of the year will be an uphill battle for you.

March 2017

TEMPTATION will rear it’s hard-to-resist head in March to try and sway us from our progress. Many of us will feel a loss of steam on our New Years Resolutions, or perhaps we’ll be tempted to cheat on partners, or make other choices that has the potential to cause damage — power through this feeling by focusing on that which you really, truly want. Remember: temptation is temporary but the consequences of our reactions to it can have lasting effects.

Quick Trip To Parris Island

Last week my family embarked on a bit of a painful road trip down south. My older brother, after two years of trying to make things happen, was accepted into the marines back in September. His graduation from bootcamp was Friday, and instead of flying, my parents wanted to drive down.

The trip itself was kinda brutal, especially since we left at night and we were all fighting to keep whomever was driving awake.

Tarot To-Go // November 28 – December 04

Guest post written by Victoria

We’ve got a lot of inner work to do if we’re going to be ready for the New Moon this week.

Monday 11/28

Monday provides us the right kind of energy to face our own SHADOW. What are our dark aspects and light aspects? How do some of your less-than-reputable qualities balance out with your great ones? What can we learn from our shadows and reflections of ourselves (and others)?

Tarot To-Go // November 21 – November 27

Guest post written by Victoria

Monday 11/21

Looks like we will be starting this week off with a case of the Mondays! While BOREDOM & DISCONTENT doesn’t appear to be an exciting card on the surface, it’s actually a reminder that when life takes a trip to Snoozeville, it’s time to look around you at what you have. I mean, you’re a living, breathing, creature who is sitting on a rock floating around in the vast nothingness of space, so. If you’re bored then you’re boring. Turn around and see what is!

Modern Love Notes

It seems according to the internet that graffiti is on the rise with people expressing their love or hate for Trump.
Lucky for me, I can still come across genuine NYC graffiti minus Trump’s name, because his name doesn’t need to be on everything.

Living in Queens, I don’t come across as much graffiti as when I visit Brooklyn. So whenever I’m in the Brooklyn neighborhoods, I make sure to take as many pictures as I can. Although not all of these are in the BK ‘hood, so I can’t give them all the credit!

Tarot To-Go // November 07 – November 13

Guest post written by Victoria

I can’t speak for everyone, but last week’s spread was scarily accurate for myself and a good portion of my social circle. This week’s reading, however, has me a little spooked with the looming Presidential Election. Tense energies abound! Let’s hop in, shall we?

Monday 11/7

Monday starts us off with a lot of HOPE in regards to whatever aspects of your life center around power and authority. I think this speaks to the election on Tuesday — a lot of us are filled with hope for the outcome we want. With the moon in Aquarius, it’s a good time to focus your thoughts on long term goals and aspirations, or for finding (or even becoming) a mentor in some way.

Tarot To-Go // October 31 – November 06

Guest post written by Victoria

With Halloween tomorrow, it seems most appropriate to roll out a slightly spooky addition to Oddball Era — Tarot To-Go, a psychic reading and astrological round up to get you ready to tackle the week with the confidence of an Oracle!

Tarot is an intuitive divining art — a way to see into the future that relies on the ability to trust your intuition and higher consciousness. Because it’s intuitive in nature, every reader will have a different method.

My first step is always to set up an altar or sacred space on which to work. I start by bringing the four elements of the planet to the party in the form of water, fire, earth (represented by crystals and shells, the bones of the planet), and feathers or burning herbs to stand for air. I usually sprinkle a little salt down as a base for some added cleansing protection and then take a minute to call upon any spirits, gods, goddesses, or ancestors for support and safety.

Today, in the Spirit of Halloween, I lit a skull shaped candle and waited for the New Moon to set up my space, hoping some of that lunar magic might fill the reading. I called upon the help of Lakshmi, goddess of prosperity and fortune. Then it was time to take several deep breaths, align myself with the Divine, and tap in.

What About Love Notes

It’s been almost a year since I last posted about some graffiti findings. Truth is, I still have a lot from my Greece trip last year but I wanted to find some in NY to kinda break it up a bit, since a whole batch of Love Notes were from Greece.

The thing about NYC is that the city is a lot cleaner than you’d think. Don’t get me wrong, graffiti can be spotted left and right, but it’s not the same city you picture from those 80’s movies with the subways smothered in crude saying and chicken scratch. It’s been cleaned up so much since then, and I’ll tell you, Greece has more interesting graffiti than here. In New York, I hear stories of artists being paid to paint murals, so the spontaneity and frustrations that are shown on the walls of Greece are not the same here.

Loss Of Words

It’s always hard to lose someone, especially if it’s family.
Over a week ago I found the news that my aunt had passed. Since then, I’ve been getting over the shock, and it has left me speechless.

A year and a half ago I went through the emotional roller coaster of dealing with defeat while trying to find what to do with myself. When I moved back from my short time in Portland, I felt so lost. I guess my dad was keeping his sister up to date with my doings and she offered to let me stay with her in Greece as long as I wanted to.

Portland Through Fish Eyes

While I’ve been absent, I’ve accomplished a little goal I’ve been meaning to do for a while – getting film developed.
About two years ago during my final semester in college, a group of my classmates and I were talking about taking a trip for our last spring break ever. I had been talking about Portland so much that we all agreed to make that our destination. I brought film with me, and I bought some disposable cameras while we were there. I developed all my disposables since then, but there was still quite a bit of film I didn’t develop immediately which was some 110 film.
