Rag Weave Tote Bags

Rag Weave Bag

Where have I been lately? Finishing up crafts and getting ready for this event I’ll be selling a bunch of my goods at on Sunday. Events always stress me out. I want to do so much, but because of unnecessary stressing and poor time management, I rarely get to accomplish all I want to accomplish. That’s why this time around I kept things simple for myself and I mainly had one goal. ↓

I shared how my dad made me a loom? Well, I’ve been using the crap out of it and I turned my weavings into tote bags.

I had an idea what I wanted them to look like. The outside weave, lining with pockets, and straps. I did research, did some supply shopping, experimented with the process, and even created tags to give off a nice professional finish.

It was quite the process to make these bags. I can’t even tell you the stress my sewing machine went through and how many time I poked my fingers till they bled. I got the hang of it, figured out a better order to work in, and I’m feeling comfortable and confident with the idea of making more.

I’ve been getting such a good reaction from friends and family, but we’ll see how they do in public on Sunday. Unfortunately I only have four ready to go, but I now have a list of six to make for said family and friends. I hope the public will like them as much as family+friends. I’m feeling good about this project. After the six I need to finish, I plan on creating more for my online shop.

It takes a lot of experimenting to figure out what works and what doesn’t. This is the first time I’ve gotten a reaction such as this from the people that keep tabs on projects I work on. It’s making me real happy and motivated camper to keep on keeping on!
