Portland Through Fish Eyes

While I’ve been absent, I’ve accomplished a little goal I’ve been meaning to do for a while – getting film developed.
About two years ago during my final semester in college, a group of my classmates and I were talking about taking a trip for our last spring break ever. I had been talking about Portland so much that we all agreed to make that our destination. I brought film with me, and I bought some disposable cameras while we were there. I developed all my disposables since then, but there was still quite a bit of film I didn’t develop immediately which was some 110 film.

Before the trip, a friend had gotten me the Lomography Fish Eye camera for my birthday, which requires special 110 film. I was able to buy the film pretty easily but not many options exist for you to get it developed. Lucky for me, there’s a Lomo store in NYC where you can develop film and I finally got around to doing so.

Here are some my favorites from the batch:

I was nervous how these would come out since it was my first time ever using this camera. They developed so well and I’m so psyched on how they turned out that I’m so looking forward to the warmer weather and more sunlight (now that daylight savings officially kicked in today – our days will now be longer, whoo!) to take my camera around. I have a feeling this summer will be fantastic and I’m totally planning on documenting it all.

I have plans to make all the photo albums using my book binding skills to put these photos together, as well as other photos from that very trip. I love having excuses to do some bookbinding because that’s a craft that I don’t engage in very often. These photos also are making me itch for some travel.

(Spoiler alert: I used up my weekend to make books to insert these photos in. I’ll be sharing that sooon. 🙂 )
