My Kind Of Type

(Quote was taken from Grimes, whom I can’t ever stop listening to.)

This is what the ultimate me type looks like. When I doodle the alphabet in sketchbooks, it always looks somewhat like this. So I decided to officially draw out the alphabet in Illustrator, and so therefore it’s official. This is Maria’s Funky Monkey Type.

I always work on paper first. It makes the process easier and quicker having a “template” to trace over when you’re trying to create something digitally. I always find the digital programs to be intimidating, so I find it’s best to be prepared with sketches.

When I’m ready to tackle the digital portion, I tend to use the pen tool to trace over my sketches. I used the pen tool for a lot of projects that I do in Illustrator. I personally feel like I have more control.
It’s crisp. It’s clean. It’s cool.

Anyway, I really really do plan on figuring out how to actually create an official font. I hear it’s quite the process, but first I have to create some uppercase and punctuations before diving into that. Which I will do.
One day. Soon. Hopefully.
