Streets of Chania, Crete

It’s kinda strange revisiting all of these pictures now since I’ve been home for a week. I’m back in the American grind and thinking about Greece feels foreign to me again. I didn’t think I’d adjust so fast, but when you’re home, you’re home. Home becomes all you know again.

I tried my best to not take so many pictures of homes while in Crete, but I just couldn’t help myself. There’s so much history behind them.

So many old, so many new. There’s quite a number we came across that were labeled as historical sites, so they can’t be knocked down. I like that because they’re what’s left from true old time Chania. New homes are being built, old buildings are being reworked – everything is changing and is becoming modern. It was nice to walk around and be able to spot which homes are old, and they’re real pretty. They have old iron gates and are somewhat peeling. Some of the homes we saw actually kinda reminded me of houses down in New Orleans.

This city is in northern Crete, by the water. It makes for relaxing living, and nighttime walks by the water made this trip truly enjoyable.
