When summer comes along, I never realized how active outside I want to be. I went on quite a number of city adventures this summer, and I came across some cool artwork and graffiti.

During downtime, I recently browsed through my phone photos and realized I never shared the awesome graffiti I found in San Francisco when I visited during Thanksgiving. I can’t believe how fast time flew since then, and between you and me, I’m planning another trip for the summer to visit my brother again. His birthday is in June and I can’t think of a better excuse to plan a trip to see him again.

Two weeks ago I went to Canada for a weekend. I had tickets to attend a documentary screening for Kittie’s documentary, and their “after party” concert.

I’ve been on a bit of an internet hiatus the past month, but I’ve been keeping an eye out everywhere I’ve gone around the city taking pictures of whatever graffiti I came across.
A lot of trucks, doors, and scribbles down in the subway. You know, the usual.

As I’m sure I’ve shared before, everywhere I turn, there’s some form of wall art or graffiti that’s so photogenic. That’s one thing I love about this city. Lately it feels as if I’ve been coming along large mural-like pieces or truck graffiti. More so the truck graffiti but I rarely am able to snap a picture because they’re always driving by. Only when they’re parked.

It’s been some time since my last graffiti post. I’ve spotted a good amount of graffiti and collected a bunch in my phone. I concluded I really like grafitti on trucks. It’s as if people put so much thought into it while the execution looks quick and raw. I love the raw look. That’s the cool thing about graffiti.

It seems according to the internet that graffiti is on the rise with people expressing their love or hate for Trump.
Lucky for me, I can still come across genuine NYC graffiti minus Trump’s name, because his name doesn’t need to be on everything.
Living in Queens, I don’t come across as much graffiti as when I visit Brooklyn. So whenever I’m in the Brooklyn neighborhoods, I make sure to take as many pictures as I can. Although not all of these are in the BK ‘hood, so I can’t give them all the credit!

It’s been almost a year since I last posted about some graffiti findings. Truth is, I still have a lot from my Greece trip last year but I wanted to find some in NY to kinda break it up a bit, since a whole batch of Love Notes were from Greece.
The thing about NYC is that the city is a lot cleaner than you’d think. Don’t get me wrong, graffiti can be spotted left and right, but it’s not the same city you picture from those 80’s movies with the subways smothered in crude saying and chicken scratch. It’s been cleaned up so much since then, and I’ll tell you, Greece has more interesting graffiti than here. In New York, I hear stories of artists being paid to paint murals, so the spontaneity and frustrations that are shown on the walls of Greece are not the same here.

Gonna be honest, I’m kinda disappointed I haven’t found any murals or graffiti in the area of North Carolina we’re staying in. But then again, I guess that can’t be a bad thing at all. In my eyes, it’s both good and bad, but I really shouldn’t complain. They got a nice thing happening here on the eastern side of NC. They take care of their city.
In the meantime, I really still have much more graffiti photos from Greece, so that’ll keep this Love Notes section busy until I gather enough photos from other locations.
