Illustrated Women In History

I’ve been busy the past few months working on a bunch of stuff on the ~dl~. At the same time I’ve been getting reacquainted with drawing and illustrating. I went to school for illustration, so I feel a little shameful when I say I’m a bit rusty. I’ve been loaded with personal crafty and sewing projects that it felt weird focusing on drawing everyday.

I saw a post from the Illustrated Women In History Tumblr page about contributing artwork to the next Illustrated Women In History issue. I was set on the idea of contributing, but I was between a few important historical figures and didn’t know who to commit to drawing. During a conversation with my mom, she told me about Geraldine Ferraro, which was fresh in her mind after just watching a documentary a few days prior. We discussed how she was the first woman to run for vice president in the 80’s. HUGE deal. Especially since thirty-two years later is when the first woman was nominated for president. It took thirty-two years after Mrs. Ferraro for a woman to run for president! THIRTY-TWO YEARS!

So after doing research on Geraldine Ferraro, I decided to illustrate her and contribute that artwork to the zine. With that said, I’m excited to say that the zine is officially out and available for purchase. There’s a PDF version as well. So much good art and information about important people we should know!

Even though women’s history is officially over for this year, you should consider buying this zine. Support women, support artists and support local. 👍
